New Chickens Are Now All in Old Coop

It took quite a bit of work but the three month old chickens are now in their permanent home.

The old bottom fencing that went into the ground, much had broken off in the last 15 years. We spent the last two days digging, installing and the cover the new before putting the new birds in. And yes I do help, I am the hander of tools, tie wires and the go-fer.

Way to hard to go deeper into the ground, rock and more rock with a hard layer of clay further down.
Starting to wire it to the bottom fencing.
Covering the wire.
Meet Fred, the rooster who supposed to be a hen lol.
The visitor in the back yard while we were in on a late lunchbreak. Both dogs were sleep lol.

Cooler weather here and work.

We had some hot days last week but the last few days have been more like  end of Aug, beginning of Sept. It was 48 degrees this morning at 6:30. with 71 deg. F today. The highest we will get next week is a couple of days of 82 F. then back to mid to high 70's.

The outside of the new front porch is pretty much done. The inside is still left to do.

It was time to pull out the old posts around the garden that were 2ed hand in 2005 when we put them in. Some where rotting off at the ground. The new posts are being concreted in. Waiting for the concrete to cure.

We had a nice fire in our new pit :). We have added more rock since this and sand around the outside.

Caulking and Painting

The remainder of July we have been doing more caulking and have the painting about finished with. We put on the rest of the skirting around the bottom. Some areas need a second coat on the outside of the deck room and then that part is done with.

Lily got her hair cut finally. We put an old t-shirt on her and sun screen to keep her from getting sun burned until her hair gets thicker again. She has such pink skin.
We looked at what it was going to take to put in a nice fire pit and etc. which was going to be way more than the above ground one we found at a good price. It was going to be much less expensive buying this one. So now it's in.

First week of June, Than July

Youngest son K came up and help his dad with the soffit work on the deck two days before dh's hip replacement. They also got most of the skirting around the bottom of the deck room.

July, dh and I put up a new screen door on deck room.

A week ago the last of the spring flowers bloomed on one
of our bushes.

Progress On The Barn and Deck Room

We have made some progress on the barn lean-to and the outside of the deck room. Three of our young men came up and helped get the joists up on the lean-to. This was the Friday and Saturday before Memorial Day.

At the end of Saturday
We see people and people give treats.
The next week and the week following. Pick up brush time.

Siding the deck room

The needed brackets came to fasten down the joists.

June a few short days to go before Dh's hip replacement.

The flashing went up. Not perfect but it works :)

Monday the 8th of June dh went in for his hip replacement. Tuesday morning at 5 am I took this of the sun burnished trees as they slide into orange.

Spring, Sprung and Burnt Out Ele. Wires

Spring has come, well mostly. Flowers are popping up, Daffodils, mountain lilies, and etc. It seems we get everything yellow first.

Trying to get the limbs and etc cleaned up form what fell on the house last fall.

We have been canning up the fruit from the freezer. Rhubarb, raspberries, apples into applesauce, plums, peaches and apricots.

I made a very quick light cake, moist, no milk Fruit Cocktail Cake.

Fruit cocktail cake

1 & 1/4 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 & ½ c flour
Dash of salt
1 large can fruit cocktail, drained
Mix all ingredients together and bake at 350 deg 30 to 40 min. or until done. Serve with cool whip, ice cream or topping of your choice.

Youngest son K came up and helped dig up the old burnt out wire and lay the electrical conduit for the new wire to go in for the barn.
