Work, Work, Work

Yes, we are busier than ever.

We pulled the beets, carrots green, picked and purple beans on Monday, with more beans growing on the bushes. The squash is growing well and we will be digging up the potatoes next week to cure before storing.

I put quite a bit of the beet tops on to dry to make beet leaf powder for soups and etc. I will do the same with the carrot tops. I also use the dried carrot tops instead of parsley. For now the beets and carrots are sitting where they will stay good until we can get then canned up.

Onion tops growing for seed. Potato's dying back beside them.

We have been working on the south ramp that goes over the creek to the garage. Replacing just about everything. This is just a start. New concrete west base and extended side walk going in. All the old boards will be pulled as well and the old 12 foot brace posts will be mostly replaced.
Where he is kneeling will be the new concrete extended side walk. More pics to come. Always more projects on top of the ones that HAVE to be finished before winter.
A future son in law came over a couple of weeks ago and helped with wood. Grand girl and great grands came along as well and mostly had a good time :).

Oh Boy It's Been Months

There has been tons going on. We are trying to get all the things done that will need to be finished before the snow flies again. We have a few accomplished at least. Little by little the list is getting whittled down. But a few more things have been added as well.

The garden had to be put in and is doing pretty good, except for the creatures that think we should share.

This is early June.

This week.

We enlarged Bear dogs front yard area. We also took down a pine tree that would begin to have the branches overhang the clothes line and trimmed up bushes in there.

The grand girl K was up here for a week in June and helped grandpa work on and put some gutter up on the car lean-to. She even did some of the hole drilling. We still have the front of the barn lean-to to do.

And yes long sleeves in the morning as the temps were cool.

One of the large old maples that is next to the house had to come down as much of it was dying with some large branches already rotten and hanging over the house. We had to have a tree trimmer come up but we did the clean up.

We got the wall up where the water lines had to be redone in the shower bath tub wall that by the entrance to the back door. We decided not to do drywall. Plus a trap door will be put in at the bottom in front of the shut offs before it's painted.

Screen door being put in on the door front he deck room to the front enclosed porch. We still have the drywall to put on the ceiling and the floor to do but we are getting there.

Wood cutting and splitting is a big one and is being worked on. The wood splitter sure is nice to have.
In front of the barn and up on the hill. # one pile.
Behind the barn.
Third and forth piles behind the barn. Plus lots of branches he cut up for us.

Baby birds getting to big for their nest in the car lean-to. You can't see them all but I counted 5 before.

Tomorrow half of July over with, WOW!
