First Snow of the Winter.
We had our first snow this week.
We had most of our getting ready for winter things done but not all.
Hubby and the neighbor are going out again tomorrow for the last couple of cords as tomorrow is the last day that is allowed.
Thanksgiving was good, most of the family went to a son's home in Lewiston. We really missed those who weren't there.

Cold coming in this week again
We have had around two weeks of pretty good weather to get some more work done around here. More fence work of course.
Cutting away brush and small trees in the way of the new back fence line. Taking out the old rotten posts and rock jacks.
New T posts put in.

Bear jumped up on the tractor to say hello.
By Thursday and a few days of rain the high will be 38 degrees F. So cold rains.

Fence, fence and more fence.
Dave has been taking down our old barbed wire fence on our road side and back property. This is the crushed field fencing we will also replace and put elsewhere.
He has already taken off a lot of the back field upper barbed wire and we still have about 950 feet to go.
We have had some wild weather here. Buckets and buckets of rain and winds at 32 MPH. Still pretty windy today in the 30 MPH range again and one moment to the next the weather is different.
Here are a few of the pictures I took today.

Nice Fall
Hello everyone.
I found a large toad stool a few feet from the house.
It has been a very nice fall here. Not real cold as yet. A few nights of frost but not bad at all. Rain storms have been going through quite a bit and I can't say they aren't needed.
We have still been trying to get things ready before the snows flies and some are saying that is going to happen next week. I can't say we are ready for that yet.
The trees are nearly bare of leaves and we even have a few pretty ones among them.
I found a large toad stool a few feet from the house.
We still have 2 cords of wood to cut up in the forests. We still would like to get those. DH went over and helped the neighbor finished up splitting what he still had to do.
I have been knitting dish cloths. Dh asked why and all I could tell him I felt like it lol. I know not a real answer but the only one I have. Sometimes I just feel like knitting and these are so easy.
Recipe:
Non Gluten Pumpkin Bread

Backdoor Concrete Pad In
The concrete pad is all poured and able to be walked on at the backdoor. After while when he could the neighbor came over to help mix and pour concrete.
This last Wednesday it was time to butcher the extra roosters and our 4 turkeys. I helped with the 4 roosters and the 2 white turkeys. The male was 44 pounds. Matt got to help with the 2 bronze breasted and and helped scald and clean.

New Door ON Back Porch, Yippeeee
We had no choice but to put in a replacement door on the back porch. The old one had been found in the barn after we moved here over 12 years ago. The small back enclosed porch just had an open doorway and the snow would pile in with no problem at all. We were happy to find an old door but through the years and repair after repair found the pour thing still falling apart and the frame not holding up well. Some of the grands through the years hadn't helped that matter lol.
Another problem is the 65 year old concrete sidewalk had heaved under it as well as around the entrance. It needed to be broken out of there and we found some of it to be 8 inches thick. A 3 foot piece had to be taken out so the new screen door would open. So without further ado it was time to replace it.
A friend came up to help and later on our youngest son came up to help as well. Of course it was a 72 inch opening and we needed 78.
A Grandson came up to visit us as he is fresh out of boot camp, he is a Marine :). Congratulations young man.

(Hubby's back and other muscles were hollering at him later.) Don't tell I told on him :).
And so we won't be stepping down into a hole he put some boards in the hole in the meantime. Now we need to pick up bags of concrete mix.
It looks like we will be butchering the turkeys and 3 unwanted roosters on Monday. It's time.
The cooler weather has made things nicer here. The wood rack out front has been filled and the chimneys and stove pipe cleaned.
I have been having lots of flare ups of my fibromyalgia with the chronic fatigue and digestive problems. I am hoping the cooler weather will help. The heat and I do not get along at all. I have cut a whole lot of things out of my diet and that has helped some. Onward is all I can do. You should think after 17 years with this I would be used to it but sometimes it still drives me bananas lol.
