Two feet of snow and still snowing

It has been a wicked couple of days here as far as snow goes. I guess more then that but the storms keep rolling in.

Our son from the middle of Washington was over and his 2 children since Sunday night. They departed yesterday before the latest storm got way to bad.
A living room camp out.

Dave was plowing last night after getting home late form work and about 10 pm the linkage on the tractor bucket broke :(.
We tried to fix it somehow with me holding a flash light in the blowing snow, but no go. I hope it doesn't cost to much to fix.

White wonderland again

We got about 8 to 10 inches of snow yesterday and last night. Very beautiful out there.

I am getting better from a cold Kaylee the grand daughter shared with me, this one sure hit me hard.
We are doing the once a day milking right now on the cow and getting about a gallon a day that way.  At least until the calf's appetite picks up.

I am reading The Work and the Glory Series, it is very good. They come in paper back to. I have the first 3 via the second hand store but picked up the others form the library.
I orderd some of those knit picks needles and etc to try them out, where you knit socks and things in the round. They have how to books on it also.

Pull me Push me

Well our Jersey had her calf yesterday. She decided she had to do that up in the trees quite a distance form not only the house but even further from the barn.
I had looked for her in the morning when I sat out a bucket of grain in her stall and spent some time before going in looking for her.
I had to get back in the house to take care of the 2 year, she wasn't up yet but I knew she would be any time.
By 3 I went up to the barn to check if she was or had been in the there. Nope no sign and her bucket was still full. I thought Oh sheesh she must have had the calf.
30 to 45 minutes later I finally find her by following a blood trail in the 18 to 2 foot of snow and the new bull calf up through the snow under a large pine tree where it was pretty dry. That's when the coyotes begin to howl all around us and I know I have to get them both to the barn. OH JOY.
I tried to get her to come with me and she wouldn't. I head back to the barn thinking I will bribe her to the barn with some grain. Yeah sure NOT.
Then I slap myself in the head, why didn't I get the lead rope while I was at the barn. Can't say I had my thinking cap on.
She has a red halter on so when i get back to her I give her the bucket with a little grain in it so I can snap the lead on.
That done I do the pull the cow thing and of course she doesn't want to come. There is just me do get this done as husband Dave is in Yakima WA at a meeting a couple of hundred miles or more away. And daughter just had gall bladder surgery a few  days, so no way she can and grand daughter is down for her nap.
I begin to pull said mulish cow through the snow and around the trees as far as I can and then tie her off to a tree and head back for the little bull that I had hoped would follow his mom but didn't.

I begin to try and get him to go where I want him to lol I should have known better but there is always hope right. So it one hand on its side and one on his rear and push for all your worth to try to get him to go in the right direction. Pick him up when he wants to lay down and begin again. The cow is calling him when she sees him but nope he doesn't care.
I get him pushed to her and untie her and pull the cow as far as I can and luckily she did come a few feet here and there with out me having to pull to much this time, thank goodness.
I know if any one was watching all this they would be laughing their heads off.
Pull the cow, tie off the cow, go back for the calf. It took me 2 hours to get all this done and the barn door closed on them. It had begun to snow as I was pushing the calf the last 100 feet to the barn.
I went straight to the shower and then took some pain killers.

Dave said when he got back, yup he thought yeah I will be gone and the cow will calf.

Dave just called

Dave just called this morning, he is over in Yakima WA for meetings. He and one of his foremen drove over there leaving Sunday morning for meetings this morning. He called to see how things were going at home :).
He will be home he hopes before midnight tonight.

Kathy had her gall bladder surgery this last Wednesday at 10 am. We had to be there at 7:30 am. Kaylee was at daycare and the her aunt Terra's and unkle Jeff as she says it lol. Dave picked her up to bring her home after he got out of his shift at the family history center.
Kathy's surgery went well the doc said, but she had a whole lot of scaring around her gall bladder from all the attacks she had.
She was finally moving around better last evening.
I have been the one running after 2 yr old Kaylee, lifting her and etc and  am worn out lol.

Got quite a few calls on my Birthday Saturday, that was nice.
Some when I wasn't home. We had gone to Lewiston for the day. Dave was gonna help son Seth paint Seth's mother in laws house on the inside, they were moving into and asked if Dave could help.
Many hands make light work.
While they were painting I took Kaylee and we ran a few errands for 3 hours then went back to see the work and pick up Dave.

Kathy called and her sister Terra had come up to our place while we were gone with a couple gifts for Kathy and a birthday gift for me.
She had gotten me a real nice book: The Timeline Of Native Americans.

Better

I have been ill with who knows what. Friday I had to report for jury duty and I was wuzzy headed and dizzy and it sure was hard to get up at 6:30 am.
Well I was excused because of another reason and not for being ill lol.
Dave called the docs office and they had a cancellation so I was able to get right in, some kind of blocked eustation tubes and etc causing some of the problems.
So we get the prescription and did other errands since we were town and that shouldn't be a wasted trip. But I was done in.

We got to babysit Friday night to because Kathy had a date.
All I wanted to do Saturday and Sunday is sleep.
Kathy was off both days so that helped me get more rest with not babysitting.

Kathy goes in tomorrow (Wed.) to have her gall bladder removed, and I know she is very nervous about it but she sure is looking forward to not having that pain anymore at the same time.

It snowed on Sunday and is 2 degrees this morning, Dave got the fire going in the wood stove before he left this morning.
The frost was so hard on the windshield yesterday and this morning that he couldn't even get it to scrape off and had just let the truck warm up to get the frost off.

I dd manage to get another batch of pumpkin butter made during the week and it turned out great. Good thing the crock pot does most of the work.

I ordered some powdered vanilla; imitation and real, it is great.
