Week 50 of list

Late I know.

Dave took off Tesday and we went up to Spokane to a wedding.

He surprised me and had taken off Wednesday and Thursday as well. Use some vacation days or lose them. He took the days to get a few things done around here.

So far we have the fire brick replaced in the wood stove, things in the garage straightened up, and the frost free faucet in the barn dug up and replaced. (Digging through rock.)
We used a gift card we got from son and daughter in law Khris and Amanda at Christmas to purchase it :).

We had errands to run in town and drooled over new recliners. Ours is looking pretty bad but will have to last some longer. Dave wants one that swivels also and that adds more to the purchase price plus to many other things more important then a new chair.

Today and Saturday the list includes cleaning and strawing the chicken coop, bringing more wood unto the porch, changing the oil in the truck, seeing if the chimney needs cleaning, paying the bills, running after Kaylee all day and I know there are a couple more things that have to be done and are on our list of needs to be done these next 2 days.

Recipe

Swedish Pea Soup
1 pound dried peas
1 ham bone with meat or amount of ham you wish, or ham hock
3 quarts water
1 large onion diced or ¼ cup dried
1 medium carrot diced
2 teaspoons salt
Wash and drain peas and soak over night in cold water. If you have quick cooking peas omit soaking them. (Like split peas) Put all ingredients into a large pot, cover and simmer for 3 hours adding more water as needed. Meat can be taken out and cut into small pieces and returned to soup.

Old Danish Pound Cake (Sand Kage)
1 pound butter (2 cups)
1-pound sugar (2 cups)
1 pound flour (4 cups)
10 eggs, separated, whip the whites
1 lemon rind grated
Cream butter very well. Add sugar and flour and beat 15 minutes. Add egg yolks beat well. Add whipped egg whites and lemon rind. Bake in loaf pan in slow oven 325 degrees 1 to 1 1/4 hours. This will keep fresh a long time if wrapped in waxed paper.
